The Apex Rotary Club raised a lot of money for a good cause just by sacrificing one head of hair.
Former Rotary President John Rodgers got his head shaved by other members after raising the most money for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation's "Shave for the Cure."
Rodger raised $14,000 of the $16,000 to help raise breast cancer awareness and get one step closer to a cure.
"For the most part everyone either knows someone that has been touched by breast cancer or has a family member who has been affected. We've had two members of our club that that died this year, not of breast cancer but another cancer," Rodgers said.
The shaving took place at this year's award and induction ceremony at Montague Lake in Cary, where Rodgers gave up his position as president to follow Rotarian Cat Kearns.
