Keeping Children Safe While On The Road

Credit: AP Online
APEX, N.C. -

The Apex Fire and Rescue is looking out for the safety of local children.

The group inspected and installed car seats for dozens of families with little ones. They looked for outdated seats and faulty straps and buckles.

Jason Nisbet with the department encourages parents to fill out information about the child to attach to the back of the seat in case of emergencies.

"Unfortunately, kids this age don't know about what is going on safety wise. We actually are trying to keep kids safe in an accident especially if the parents cannot give information about the child," Nisbet said.

Car seat checks are also held every Saturday at the Apex Fire Department on Hunter Street.
