Fishing With A Cop

Credit: AP Online
APEX, N.C. -

Apex Police Officers are going back to the basics with local kids.

During the Park, Recreation and Cultural Resources' 2008 Summer Camp, officers will teach kids to fish at the Apex Community Park off Lake Pines on July 15.

Kids ages 6-11 who are interested, must sign up for the camp session that runs the entire week.

Corporal Mark Flaughter said these activities help build a strong relationship between local children and the department.

"It's to teach them something wholesome and an activity they can do for the summer to keep them out of trouble. It's also a chance to talk with police officers and let them know they can talk to us at anytime," Flaugher said.

The camp costs $36 for resident and $42 for non-residents. If you want more information click on www.apexnc.org.
