A local teen is heading to the Paralympics in Beijing and the community is coming together in support of the super swimmer.
Tucker Dupree, 19, is legally blind and qualified for the U.S. Paralympics team in April. Now, the Triangle Aquatic Center where he trains is holding fundraisers, like swim clinics for kids, to raise over $10,000 to send the Dupree family to China.
Dupree said it's important to have his family by his side.
"It's amazing and it's awesome if I can take them with me. They have been there for me and have been my support system, driving me back and forth. I think if I can help them with clinics and stuff, it's my way of giving back to them," Dupree said.
About 40 swimmers attended the clinic Monday night and they hope to hold other fundraisers throughout the summer. If you would like to know more information click on www.tuckerdupree.com.
